Subject: Mr. Cliff Sanchez: a Nominee for the Kane Fernandez Award for 2006

With all due respects to the Board Members, I would like to present to you for your
consideration, Mr. Cliff Sanchez, as a nominee for the next Kane Fernandez award. He is an assistant director at the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center located in Los Angeles. His achievements are extensive and his community service activities have reached deep into his community. I had asked him to provide me with examples of his work so that I may transfer them to you. The following is my attempt to summarize and highlight his work and show why I think he is deserving of this award.

1. Rhino Records-1992-1999: Million Dollar Record Company that reproduces 60's,
70s,80's, and 90's music. Developed a social wellness program which provided
corporate staff to hundreds of inner city children to participate in social activities,
internship employment, college scholarships, financial support and community service
projects. Worked directly with President and Founder Richard Foos, Senior Executive
Gary Stewart and Social Wellness Task Force Team.

2. Boys To Men-1997-Present: Developed a joint grant proposal of a $150.000.00 from
the W.K. Kellog Foundation for a multifaceted project for fatherless boys. The program
provides educational teachings and counseling, social skills, leadership skills, job
readiness projects, comprehensive intervention services, cultural enrichment and
community service endowment. Director of program for the past 8 years.

3. U.S.T.A.: 1998 -Present: Developed athletically into a superior 4.5 singles and
doubles tennis player. Top 5 ranking South Bay area. Recruited successfully a vast
majority of culturally enriched male and female players to support causes for
disadvantaged children by providing scholarship money, financial support, school
supplies and clothing. Nine years consecutive support to the Annual Golf Classic.

4. L.A. Lakers Community Service Program 1998-2000: Opportunity for 16 different
youth members to volunteer and serve a professional sport franchise by handing out
in-arena giveaways at turn style doors. A total of 32 games per season. V.I.P. Star
Plaza Entrance, Regular Season and Playoff Games. Court access and players
availability. Earned $200.00 per game thru The Laker Foundation. In 3 seasons
brought in over $12,000.00 for operational expense of Centers needs. First ever to
take a group of South Central Children to an N.B.A. World Championship Series V.I.P.

5. Venice Family Clinic-1999-Present: A Community Base Free Clinic in
Venice California, provides a yearly Luxurious Charter Bus, 30 Theatre
passes for the seasonal feature Christmas movie during the Holiday
Season. Christmas gifts for all who attends and warm wishes from it's staff
and volunteers.

6. Reebok Professional Alliance Program-2000-Present: Athletic Sponsorship
to a Million Dollar Athletic Apparel Corporation that has provided countless
opportunities to share and give athletic gear, accessories and shoes to
disadvantage children of the Al Wooten Center.

7. Academic Intern Program-2000-Present: Developed a Training Program for
Under Graduate Students to complete field work hours for degree and
certificate qualification for students seeking 1 on 1 or group educational
experience with Inner City Children. This program allows the junior
college, state college and universities to gain experience in the areas of
Secondary Education, Social Field Services, Human Development and Child
Psychology.

8. Dodger HomeTown Hero Award 2000: Honored by this Professional Sports
Franchise in front of 36,498 Baseball fans at Dodger Stadium in receiving
Crystal Glass Plaque for outstanding service to youth mentoring and
community programs to the children of South Central Los Angeles.
Televised locally and featured in the Sports section of the Los Angeles
Times 11-20-00 Edition.

9. Corporate Mentorship Program-2001: Supports the academic, cultural and
social skills being taught at the Center by giving Wooten Youth the
opportunity to visit local businesses and Corporations, meet successful
professionals, learn the benefits of College and develop successful Careers.
Recruited Corporations, Merrill Lynch, LBR Associates and “Music To The
Rescue.”

10. Ella Fitzgerald Library-2001-Present: Volunteers service in building with
Bort and Associates, Children of the Wooten Center a Library in the Dewey
Decimal Classified System Sponsored by the Ella Fitzgerald Foundation.
New Scholastic Readers of Fiction and Non Fiction titles, General
References and Language Arts. The need of a Library in this neighborhood
and the value of reading cannot be over estimated.

11. Dodger Christmas Party-2002-Present: Opportunity of a lifetime to bring
25 children and attend this invitation only Holiday Festival of Former and
Current Major League Players Up Close and Personal. Sponsor Food
Caterer, Dodger Memorabilia, Picture taking and autographs. Children are
dined in elegance and style at it's Stadium Club for Corporate Executives
and Suite Ticket Holders.

12. AAF-2002: Developed a writing Grant to Amateur Athletic Foundation and
was rewarded a $5,000.00 stipend to create and develop a Youth
Basketball League for Elementary, Middle and High School Students. The
money was used to purchase a collapsible court, uniforms, score table and
trophies. This athletic program emphasizes team play and sportsmanship.

13. L.A. Eye Institute / Lens Crafter Foundation-2002-Present: A mobile eye
care unit that offers free eye examinations to children of all genders and
from any demographic area. Through a licensed optometrist, eye exams
are provided and if eyeglasses are needed they are provided for that child.
Since the existence of this program Cliff has taken 47 disadvantaged
children to this program where 27 have received optical lenses.

14. Los Angeles Clippers Foundation-2002-Present: Through the professional
efforts of the Clipper player zone program, the Clipper players host a group
of children and make it possible for them to join in the fun and excitement
of an N.B.A. game. All children receive goody bags, T. shirts in the name
of the player sponsoring. Also, they get a chance to watch pre-game warm
ups at courtside, a photo and the opportunity to meet players face to face.

15. Warner Strategic Marketing (WSM)-2003-Present: A Billion Dollar
Corporation developed to promote the Warner Music Group’s catalogue
and extraordinary artists in the United States. This Division includes
Rhino Entertainment, Warner Special Products, Warner Music Group Sound
Tracks and Warner Television Marketing. WSM supports the Center by
providing educational, financial and fellowship support through various
activities in the spirit of community service programs. Cliff works with
WSM to bring their services to the community.

16. ABC News-2004-Present: Cliff negotiated support from this multibillion
dollar industry through it's Los Angeles Branch Network to support the
Wooten Center by providing financial assistance, computer equipment,
office furniture, guided tours and television monitors. ABC News is an
educational support system and economic resource for the needs of the
children at the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center.

17. J. Goodman & Associates-2004-Present: A food service sales and
marketing company based in Santa Monica, California provides the Wooten
Center with a large assortment of gourmet food to feed disadvantaged
children, young adults, parents, guardians, volunteers and the community
of South Central Los Angeles.

18. Revolution Studios-2004: A Los Angeles based film production company
offered it's entire wardrobe from the Action Adventure Movie “XXX-State of
the Union 2005.” The wardrobe that was furnished provided clothing and
shoe wear to the children of the Center, Parents, Guardians and the
neighborhood community. The value of the donated wear was $43,500.00.

19. ConAgra Foods Incorporated-2005-Present: Billion Dollar Corporation
is one of North America’s Largest Packaged Foods Companies. It's National
Headquarters is in Omaha, Nebraska with Branch Corporations in
Minneapolis Minnesota, Chicago Illinois and Irvine California. Through the
Irvine Branch of Orange County it supports the Al Wooten Center by
donating it's used computers, printers and technical machinery to advance
the Vocational/Technical areas of the Center’s computer programs.

20. Saturn 2005 Educator Of The Year: Cliff was selected as a special
Honoree from a 100 nominees as the 2005 Educator of the Year. The
company, Saturn Incorporated Recognized Cliff’s 24 years of professional
service by providing him with a new 2005 Saturn Four Door Sedan for use
at the Center to provide transportation for children, clients, associates,
colleagues, supporters as well as for private use. This award shows his
dedication, loyalty, commitment, volunteerism and integrity. The Senior
Vice President, Jim Keenan, of Saturn Incorporated took time from his
busy schedule to personally congratulate Cliff and hand him the keys to the
car.

21. Cliff has given financial support to the Hamilton Library Flood Disaster
Damage Fund. Also, he has given $1,000.00 in value of Reebok apparel
and accessories as gifts and silent auction items to the U.H. Foundation
Alumni Office. Also, he has given a donation in support of the 2004 Breast
Cancer 3-day Walk-A-Thon in recognition of Amanda Newsome, wife of
former UH teammate and roommate Gary Newsome, of San Diego, Ca.

22. KROQ Radio Interview 12-05-04: Live FM Radio Interview Segment with
KROQ Host "Doc on the Roq". 35 minutes in length on various topics of
social issues, education, gender equality and history of the Al Wooten
Center. Spoke candidly and vividly to a large listening audience of this
World Famous Rock n Roll Radio Station. He has downloaded CD re-cording
audio versions to the Center’s website. Over $1,000.00 has been donated
to the Center because of these efforts.

Overall, Cliff was a student athlete who graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1981 and is proud of being a former Rainbow Warrior. He is appreciative and speaks warmly of his memories working with “the children of Hawaii who gave me experiences through community service of developing my teaching/communicating skills at Honolulu Boys Club, Easter Seals Society, Palolo Playgrounds, (Shambattle) Nuuanu Y.M.C.A. and Girls Basketball Coach at Hawaii Baptist Academy.” He is proud of giving “24 years to his profession and 13 years as a PROMINENT LEADER in South Central Los Angeles guiding HUNDREDS of disadvantaged inner city children at the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center by providing educational, recreational, vocational and cultural enrichment programs.” In his own words he says that “it has been an AMAZING experience meeting GREAT people of our society who support my causes for educational empowerment, gender equality and service to the community. I pray that I may continue to be the GUIDING LIGHT in which I may have the opportunity to be of service and better a life for those who look up to me as a Professional Male Role Model.
As an Alumnus representing the University of Hawaii, I pray that I may continue to represent the OHANA with DIGNITY and CLASS as an
Accomplished Professional.”
