ALTON "DUNNIE" WOOTEN, JR.

April 29, 1953- January 19, 1989

Well son, as you always said, "That's life!" I hope you are watching, because today is a very special day. I am placing you on a quilt with 13 other young people who were killed violently, the same way you were.

The quilt is a memorial to all men, women, and children who were killed violently. I just hope when everyone comes face-to-face with all your beautiful faces, they will get the message, "It's time to stop the violence!"

Alton "Dunnie" Wooten, Jr. was a kindhearted people-person. He would bring homeless men off the streets into his apartment to give them a meal and let them take a bath or wash their clothes. He said "There is nothing wrong with this. I'm just trying to help a brother when he's down."

As your Mother, I do miss you. I miss your phone calls, your unannounced visits, and your big smile.

Just knowing you were on this earth made me happy. But, I feel you are in a better place. We will be together again in spirit. Until then...

Your Mom

A Tribute to My Beloved Brother, Dunnie

Dunnie was one who thought he was my older brother, even though I was the oldest...He felt with sincerity that he had to protect his family, no matter what... He was everybody's son...He could talk you into doing something and make you think

it was "your idea"... He matured so fast and became so independent and unique that he left his sister and his brother in the dust.

God thank you for letting me live a part of my life with such a special brother.

Dunnie, you have left me with such sweet memories that I will always treasure.

Love, your one and only Sister,

Barbara Wooten Clark

In Loving Memory of My Brother, Alton

He was a true brother, who was never ashamed. He was always there. His job was to look out for me, his younger brother, and for this I must respect him. I must respect him because Alton was his own man. He never went with the flow. He did things his own way. I will always remember and love him deeply. I thank God for giving me such a loving brother.

Love Always, Rev. Arthur Lee Wooten
